As a function of its never-ending reach for distinction, the University has been the beneficiary of significant signs of recognition: as one of few US-based institutions of higher education approved for membership in the European Association for Distance Learning (EADL); as a member of DANTES, which oversees educational funding to active servicemen in all branches of the American military; as an institution approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for G.I. Bill funding; as a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the only body of the U.N. with a specific mandate in higher education; as a member of the American Council on Education (ACE); as a member of America-Mideast Educational and Training Services (AMIDEAST), a private, nonprofit organization that strengthens mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa; as a member of the UK-based Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE); and as an approved training center and certification partner of the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM).
